New Zealand Makes Progress In The Fight To Stop The Ivory Trade
New Zealand Makes Progress In The Fight To Stop The Ivory Trade – Virginia Woolf of Auckland, New Zealand participated in the Global Elephant March in October 13, 2013 – the first time in recorded history that people stood up and marched for an animal.
Subsequent to that event she started to work on a petition to ban the sale of ivory in New Zealand and to crush the government stock piles of elephant ivory. Everyone knows that “When The Buying Stops – The Killing Will Stop”. With an elephant being slaughtered for its tusks every 15 minutes in Africa – elephants may become extinct in the wild within 15 to 20 years.
This is a crisis and it must be addressed now. Virginia was interviewed today on TVOne in Auckland about the ivory trade. Thank you Virginia – and all the other staunch Kiwi supporters of elephants – for all that you are doing and accomplishing. When people make a commitment to challenge the status quo and are persistent in their efforts – change can and will happen!

And then take a moment to read the text from the New Zealand Select Committee Decision on the Ivory Trade Ban Petition
And remember that once again committed people are marching for endangered animals: elephants – lions and lions to name a few – on World Animal Day – October 4, 2014 – in 113 cities around the world.
You can get involved and help.
Without us – they have no voice and no power – with us – we can change the world for them!
