A Blog Name
When I decided to create my animal Blog the first daunting task was to pick a name and then to secure the URL. There was no point in visiting GoDaddy to look for an available URL until I had the title. As with any planning task that I take on in my life – it starts with a blank sheet of paper, a pen and a cuppa java. I am a “woman of lists”. I thought and wrote and came up with a list of possibilities. Most of them as you can see were centred around the word “animal”.
Here is what what my list looked like after 2 days of real concentration:
Global Animals Animal Village Global Animal Rights
People Unite For Animals Citizens Unite For Animals
Nations Unite For Animals Global Voice For Animals
All About Animals I Love Animals Warriors For Animals
Global Animal Issues Matter
The first real contender: global animal issues matter – GAIM – easy to remember I thought. Then I realized that GAIM was way too close to GAME and images of hunting.
My second choice: I Love Animals. Humm – too similar to the already catchy I Love New York and Paris and ice cream and sunsets. But out of the word love came an image of the heart – a universal archetype. I thought about it’s power, it’s capacity to forgive, it’s life giving force and it’s ability to love.
Many within the collective of humanity have lost their moral compass – but animals remain untouched – going from day to day just engaged in the exquisite art of “being”. Something within mankind has missed the mark on innate goodness and compassion. We see animals as lesser creatures, exert our authority and use and abuse them. But in spite of the misplaced belief in our superiority – animals and humans – have one undeniable thing is common – we all have a beating heart. I knew I had my name.
Off to GoDaddy to check the URL.
I typed ever so slowly and accurately – abeatingheart.com = taken! Oh no.
But since I’m Canadian – my second choice – abeatingheart.ca = yeah – mine! And so it came to be – a blog dedicated to animal awareness – it’s a good place to start!
A logo is on the horizon – stay tuned!
