Rest In Peace Gentle Soul
The location – the Tan Hoa Commune Forest – the north/central Province of Quang Binh in Vietnam. The occasion – the discovery of a body. The finding – it is believed that the last known wild elephant in the forest is now dead. Rest in peace gentle soul. Her decomposing corpse was found approximately 2 days after her murder. Foul play is expected. Locals confirmed that this forest had been home to 2 elephants – a male and a female.

Of course there are no witnesses. Sadly her mate was also murdered in 2011. That guilty party has never been found. This most recent killing will also go unpunished. Of course officials and police officers are now investigating.
This beautiful elephant – let’s call her “Yeu” because that means love in Vietnamese was not only killed – she was mutilated. Her head – tusks – skin and tail were cut off and she was disembowelled. We don’t know how hard Yeu struggled but one can assume that she suffered.
How Yeu Might Have Looked In Happier Times
How much rage and brutality go into this type of barbaric act? Was it an angry local? A poacher? A wildlife criminal? Was she surprised when her killer caught her? Was she afraid? Did she die immediately? Was she tortured? We will never know the answers to these questions. Of course, the murderer knows and one can only hope that karma has a merry reward in store for this person.
I have a message for Yeu’s killer. She is in a better place now – removed from the likes of you and your kind. Yeu will not be forgotten. But you – every time you look at yourself – may you know that you have no soul and that a reckoning awaits you!
